Drone Filming

When filming, we had the opportunity to film with a drone as a member of the group knew a friend with one, this w very beneficial for us as it allowed us to get an establishing shot at the beginning of our trailer. This is a typical feature of Social Realism films and allowed us to follow the conventions of our genre further.

When filming with the drone we had to be aware of the specific rules and limitations to using one. We had to keep the drone at a limit of 3K in height as the law states, this meant our establishing shot had to be of just an estate however this is what we ad originally wanted as it includes more detail. When filming we had the option to have a wider angle with slightly worse quality or a smaller frame with better quality. We chose better quality a that is more important to fit with the rest of our high quality footage.

The shots needed a lot of editing before we put them into our trailer, firstly all footage was upside down so we needed to rotate it, there were also sticks ether side of the shots from the drone structure which we had to crop out, the footage was also slightly shaky which meant we had to stabilize the video on IMovie. After doing all this the drone shots look much higher quality and also have given us a lot better understanding of technologies.
